Greenwich Country Day School Expands Menu of “Green” Features

Juice spills, paint drips and knocked-over snacks are part of the day for every preschool teacher. Teachers at Greenwich Country Day School were no exception, routinely wiping down children’s desks with Clorox disinfecting wipes multiple times a day.

But the school this past year discarded its disinfecting wipes, as well as its all-purpose cleansers and dish detergent, to become the first prep school in the country to manufacture its own environmentally safe cleaners using a procedure called electrolyzed water technology.

“If we can clean desks in a safer way for kids and teachers, and do something for the Earth, it is worth the effort,” said Headmaster Adam Rhodie.
